Back in September, we joined the EDUCATE programme. We are proud to announce that we have successfully become officially Evidence Aware after receiving our EdWard!
The EDUCATE Evidence Aware EdWard signifies that we have successfully completed the EDUCATE programme. EDUCATE is a rigorous and comprehensive training programme which has helped us learn more about how to develop, evaluate and improve their products and services with the use of research evidence. The EDUCATE programme’s distinct focus is on pedagogical research and ‘what works’. For us, this has been great to have people to bounce ideas off and explore new ways of thinking.
Based at the Knowledge Lab, at UCL’s Institute of Education, EDUCATE is match-funded by the European Regional Development Fund and UCL’s partners: UCL Engineering, the British Educational Suppliers Association (BESA), Nesta and F6S. This collaboration brings together all the strands of knowledge, experience and expertise needed to produce world-class EdTech.
We have taken this ‘what works’ approach fully onboard and come up with a way to measure how effective Get My Grades is. When surveyed 100% of students said they thought Get My Grades was helping them learn as they felt at least some improvement in their learning. But do they test scores support this? This is the question we are currently working on answering (and so far students seem to have introspected well). Applying the evidence will not only make Get My Grades better but we hope in the next few months to submit our application for the next level up of EdWard – Evidence applied.
